Trisha prabhu,
Managing Partner

Trisha Prabhu is an entrepreneur and activist from the United States. She completed her undergraduate study at Harvard, where she concentrated in Government and Technology Science, with a secondary in Economics. She graduated summa cum laude and as a Phi Beta Kappa Scholar. Trisha is passionate about building a more kind, inclusive Internet for today's youth, and is the Founder and CEO of ReThink, a social enterprise tackling cyberbullying and redefining Internet culture. At Oxford, her research focuses on the unforeseen consequences of technology on our society, and how to engineer better tech and policy solutions to address online harms. Outside of her work and research, Trisha has worked in tech for the US federal government and volunteered her time towards ending the diversity gap in entrepreneurship, a cause she cares deeply about. She is a 2022 Rhodes Scholar.

Raveen Kariyavasam,
managing partner

Raveen Kariyawasam has a dual degree in bioengineering with concentrations in computational medicine and medical devices in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and in the Wharton School with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship & innovation from the University of Pennsylvania. Kariyawasam also holds a master’s degree in bioengineering concentrating in brain-machine interfaces and advanced computational modeling of biological systems. While at Oxford, he is pursuing a DPhil in Engineering Science to help provide affordable neurotechnology for the 99%. Kariyawasam is also the co-founder and CEO of xRAD – a novel electronic medical record system designed for low resource settings to overcome technical and resource constraints. In his spare time, Kariyawasam can be found DJing, painting leather goods or digesting the latest Harvard Business Review.

Tinashe chandauka
co-founder, advisor

Tinashe is studying for a DPhil in Surgical Sciences at Oxford combining medicine, “Lean” and ergonomic science, to improve surgical team performance under crisis. He’s now transferring the same relentless energy that allowed him to complete a marathon, three Ironman 70.3 distance events and a medical degree in the span of a year towards Rhodes Incubator. Tinashe wants to use entrepreneurship to solve Africa’s imposing developmental problems. He is a recipient of the South African President’s Gold Award for Youth Empowerment (2010) and recognised as one of the Top 200 ‘Young South Africans to Watch Between 25 and 35’ (2016). Tinashe is a 2015 Rhodes Scholar.

jonas bovijn
co-founder, advisor

Jonas is a medical doctor from South Africa and co-founded RI in 2017. He was a 2016 Rhodes scholar, and finished his DPhil Genomic Medicine and Statistics at the Big Data Institute in Oxford in 2021. He is now a physician-scientist at Regeneron Genetics Center, where he works at the interface of large-scale health data and drug discovery. Jonas is passionate about the role of biotech and pharmaceutical innovation in improving human health and well-being.


Hatim Hussain
advisor

Hatim is a lawyer currently pursuing PhD at the University of Oxford. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Hatim read for Bachelor of Civil Law at University of Oxford as well as a Masters in Management Sciences at Tsinghua University, China. He also holds dual degrees in commerce and law from Gujarat National Law University, India (B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.). He is a Rhodes Scholar (India & Balliol 2020) and a Schwarzman Scholar. Over the last decade, Hatim has worked as a founding team of a Swiss fintech, as a consultant, advisor, tutor and researcher, working with institutions such as International Monetary Fund, University of Cambridge, United Nations Development Programme, Reg Genome and Boldly Go Philanthropy. He is passionate about financial inclusion and RegTech.

Rachel Leung
advisor

Rachel is a medical doctor from Hong Kong. She received medical education in the Chinese University of Hong Kong under the Global Physician Leadership stream and undertook epidemiological research training at Brown University and the University of Oxford. She worked with international think-tanks to develop regional health policy frameworks in collaboration with the World Health Organization. Rachel has also worked in digital healthcare technology companies and studied digital health solutions in the Asia Pacific Region. Rachel is passionate about the intersection of clinical medicine, technology, and policy to improve healthcare outcomes broadly. She was selected as Rhodes Scholar to pursue a PhD in cerebrovascular medicine under supervision by Professor Peter Rothwell and Mr Dominic Howard.

Charles Conn

Charles is the Warden of Rhodes House, the global CEO of the Rhodes Trust and the Rhodes Scholarships. His career has spanned time in Silicon Valley as a technology entrepreneur and working as an environmental foundation manager and grantmaker. He sits on the boards or advisory committees of Patagonia, the Arcadia Foundation, the Oxford Internet Institute, and the Atlantic Salmon Foundation. He was formerly a Partner at McKinsey & Company.

Sophie Chandauka

Sophie is an Executive Director and CAO of Morgan Stanley's Legal and Compliance Division in EMEA. She was previously Head of Group Treasury (Legal) at Virgin Money and Senior Associate at global firm Baker McKenzie. Sophie is a recipient of many industry awards and has featured in the Financial Times and Sunday Times. She is Co-founder and Chair of Judges of the Black British Business Awards.

Roy Bahat

Roy is the Head of Bloomberg Beta, a venture firm investing in the future of work. He was Co-founder and Chairman of a venture-backed startup (OUYA), as well as an executive at News Corporation. He was named one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business. Roy is also a lecturer teaching media at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. He has served in government, non-profits, media, corporate, and startup roles.

 

SWATI MYLAVARAPU

Swati Mylavarapu is a Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in its early-stage investment group, where she focuses on digital health and consumer technologies. Previously, Swati worked at Square where she was responsible for business operations and strategy for Canada and Japan. She has also worked as the head of sales and client services at Quid and as a founding member of Google.org.
